This news broke last week, but we waited a little while to report it. Partly because we've been taking the news rather hard, and we're hoping that it was a dream (though after a couple days, reality's starting to set in and we're gonna have to face facts). Also, we've been drinking and drugging a lot more than usual lately, so it's been a little difficult to string more than three words together, and usually the words we can muster are something along the lines of "more sucks please". Nothing fit for publication, that's for sure.

Anyway, the news? Penny Flame is getting out of the porno industry, She broke the news on her blog, titled "Becoming Jennie", which is referencing Penny's real name, Jennie Ketchum. She's leaving the industry to deal with some addiction issues, both to drugs and to sex. You may recall that Penny/Jenny is appearing in the new season of "Celebrity Rehab" to deal with her sex addiction. She says, in her first post, "My name is Jennie and I am a sex and love addict."

She's getting out of performing to pursue some other stuff like "art and school and comedy" (all worthwhile endeavors, 'specially comedy!), and to determine how to make a good living doing those things. "A large reason of why women fail at leaving the adult industry is because having become accustomed to a certain style of living, it’s hard to go make $7/hour, virtually impossible, " she says on her blog. "There are no severances packages in porn, no 401K to fall back in once the $1000 days stop. And yes I’ve saved money, but not enough for the rest of the year. I am not going to run my savings dry and feel helpless and broke. I have an exit plan, new goals, and this is all part of it."

And don't think for a second that she's hating on porno. Far from it. In fact, she'll continue directing porno as well as featuring new content on her website. "I am not quitting porn entirely, nor am I denouncing or condemning it. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it…I would not be here, at this transformational period in my life, if it were not for Porn. I would not have the circle of friends, nor would I have people reading this and caring if it were not for porn. " she says in a post from this past Saturday. Sounds like she just needs a little time (or a lot, if she wants it) to get some shit together so she can truly appreciate the fine things in life, and honestly, good for fucking her, man. There's thousands of other ladies out there making high-quality porno, and I'm pretty sure they'll keep us all busy while Jenny/Penny's sorting out her shit. She did some phenomenal fuckin' work over the course of the past eight years, and personally, I'm glad to see her exiting on a high note, rather than ending up doomed and miserable like all of the dead souls here at POPPORN (just kidding, we're only partly dead).
