If you work in or follow the daily cummings and goings of the porn bidness (that's slang for "business, FYI), you've probably heard lots of talk about syphilis lately. Mostly from Lee Roy Myers facebook and twitter feeds. There had been widespread talk of some syphilis-infected motherfuckers roaming the adult countryside and endangering people and whatnot. Fingers being pointed. Shooting being halted. All that good stuff.

Now that Lee Roy Myers is safely quarantined in his native Montreal, lavishly enjoying his poutine while counting his loonies and toonies, it looks like it was safe for the porn industry to wham the truth onto everyone else's unsuspecting heads.

It was Mr. Marcus.

From what I can gather by skimming the porno news headlines, Mr. Marcus...hold on...do I have to write "Mr. Marcus" every time I reference him? Does he have a first name? Maybe I'll just say "Mr.", to save time.

Anyway, Mr. apparently had his test results altered so that he could keep performing while showing a positive test. Whoooooops. I gotta assume that's the sort of thing that would piss a lot of people off, because while Mr.'s side of the story is pretty sure he wasn't endangering anyone (he had had his necessary medications, but the test still shows a positive for a while or forever or something regardless of whether you're a danger or not), I can see why you wouldn't want to get fucked by somebody who's holding an official piece of paper saying that they've got syphilis. That's just common sense, right? If only they had seen those tests!

I should mention that, as far as I know, everyone he's performed with since he tested positive has been re-tested and shows negative results. Whew!

It's a long story, comprised of a lot of ins and a lot of outs and I'm certainly not going to try to paraphrase the whole thing here. That's AVN's job (mostly because they're significantly more adept at composing complete sentences than I am).

In a nutshell, Mr. came clean, apologized, admitted mistakes and asked for forgiveness. See?

“I have to live with this, no one else does,” Mr. Marcus said. “I’m sorry. I’m very sorry. I did not think that this would come out like this. I’m sorry. All I can do is try to make some good happen. That’s it. I can do that. I can stand up. I’ve been taking a lot of shit. I can take it.”

Now comes the firestorm? Can you forgive him?

FUN FACT: Al Capone had syphilis, proving that success can still be achieved while carrying this burden.
